records obtained by Operation Rescue, when EMS arrived, the patient, a 27-year old African-American woman, was laying on the abortion table still bleeding. She was breathing and alert.
The abortionist at Northland Family Planning advised EMS that the woman had begun to bleed before a 20-week abortion involving twins could be completed.
Once the staff realized that there were complications to the grisly abortion procedure, the patient was given Narcan to awaken her from sedation. After she was advised of her serious bleeding, she refused to allow the abortion to continue.
The patient’s IV bag was empty upon arrival of EMS, who replaced it with normal saline.
An 800 ml blood loss is equivalent to just over 27 ounces. The average women’s body holds about 4.7 liters of blood, or about 159 ounces. This means the woman lost approximately 17 percent of her total blood volume before EMS arrived. Shock occurs when one has lost 20 percent of his or her blood.
She was placed on an ambulance stretcher in the seated position and transported Priority One – the most urgent — to nearby Providence Hospital where apparently the abortion was finally completed.
Since November, there have been five medical emergencies at this Northland Family Planning location. Operation Rescue previously reported on an incident that took place on February 7, 2019, where the woman undergoing the abortion could be heard screaming in pain in the background of the 911 call recording due to a perforated uterus.
“We seeing very serious botched abortions at Northland Family Planning lately, and that is alarming. The public has the right to know that this abortion facility isn’t safe,” said Newman. “Five abortion-related medical emergencies in four months that require hospitalization directly from the abortion clinic is excessive and deserves a full investigation.”

Southfield, MI – An ambulance was called to Northland Family Planning, an abortion facility affiliated with the National Abortion Federation, on March 22, 2019, for a woman suffering a botched late-term abortion on twins.
The woman who placed the call to 911 was discernably shaken as she explained to the 911 dispatcher that a woman in the middle of a Dilation and Extraction (D&E) procedure was bleeding and needed an ambulance.
This kind of abortion involved the removal of the babies’ bodies through dismemberment.
“This was a high-risk abortion of two innocent babies that went terribly wrong. These babies deserved to live as much as anyone, yet, killing them almost cost the mother’s life as well,” said Newman. “She is lucky to be alive today. Her babies were not so lucky. It’ tragic.”
