Dayton, OH – A new medical emergency occurred on Wednesday, May 21, at the Planned Parenthood Dayton Surgical Center, formerly known as the Women’s Med Center in Kettering, Ohio.
The Emergency
Records obtained by Operation Rescue indicate the incident involved a woman who reportedly began experiencing heavy bleeding following an abortion–described in the 911 call as “an outpatient procedure.”
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the facility around 10:30 AM. The woman, whose age has not been released, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care. Her current medical status remains unknown.
Pro-lifers outside the clinic confirmed that abortionist Jeanne M. Corwin–who has been involved in multiple complications from abortion pill protocols–was present that morning and is believed to have been involved in this procedure.
It is not yet known whether an internal review or investigation has been initiated since, under Ohio law, ambulatory surgical facilities must report certain serious complications to the Ohio Department of Health. The law states: “(H) Each case in which a physician treats a post abortion complication shall be reported on a post abortion complication form. The report shall be made upon a form prescribed by the department, shall be signed by the attending physician, and shall be confidential.”
The Hemorrhage
As seen in many other medical emergencies, hemorrhage is one of the most frequent complications of abortion. Causes range from uterine atony (in which the uterus fails to contract after an abortion), retained pregnancy tissue (baby parts left inside), coagulopathy (blood clotting problems), and more. The most common causes seen in cases investigated by Operation Rescue are cervical laceration or uterine perforation.
Cervical laceration or uterine perforation are due to either cuts in the cervix or punctures of the uterine wall–and both of these injuries come from the sharp surgical instruments used by the abortionist. These injuries can lead to internal bleeding, especially if nearby organs or large blood vessels are involved.
If not treated carefully–and more importantly–in a timely manner, these injuries can be life-threatening.
The Facility
The infamous Dayton Surgical Center has operated in the region for years under its previous name, the Women’s Med Center, before its integration in 2024 into the Planned Parenthood network. Even though management changed, their frequent injuries of women have not. For years, Operation Rescue has reported about emergencies happening at this place, including the fact that personnel were hiding emergency details on the phone. Although the name is different, their lack of care for women is the same.
A Call to Action
Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, expressed his concerns about the safety practices at the facility: “Every time an ambulance pulls up to an abortion clinic, it raises serious questions about patient safety,” said Newman. “How many more women have to be wheeled out on stretchers before these facilities are held accountable?”
No additional information has been made available regarding the patient’s condition or the precise cause of the bleeding. Operation Rescue will continue monitoring and reporting these incidents in Ohio.
“We will not cease demanding the abortion cartel be held accountable by the same state departments created to protect women, not just allow abortion clinics to injure countless numbers of them,” added Newman.
