Hempstead, NY — Behind the doors of another Planned Parenthood facility, a surgical abortion went badly enough that staff had no choice but to call 911 on July 16.
The patient was a 28-year-old woman with the abortion underway. According to the Planned Parenthood employee who made the emergency call, there was concern that the woman’s uterus had been perforated.
Need Hospital Transport
“We have a patient here that … needs an ambulance transport to the hospital,” the caller told the 911 dispatcher. When asked what happened, the employee provided a chilling explanation: “She may have had a perforation to her uterus.”
The caller was quick to emphasize that the woman was supposedly “stable” — in an attempt to reduce the seriousness of the emergency. However, in medical terms, “stable” does not mean uninjured or out of danger, and a possible uterine perforation is not something that can or should simply be brushed aside.
The Procedure Went Wrong
The second portion of the emergency call provides an even more striking detail of the incident.
When EMS asked the 911 dispatcher what happened, dispatch said the patient was “in the middle of a procedure that went wrong.”
“Planned Parenthood’s ‘specialty’ procedure is abortion. This abortion giant insists abortions are safe, but we know the truth. Just last week we were in Colorado — another ‘abortion friendly’ state — memorializing the death of 18-year-old Lexi Arguello who died from a second trimester abortion at Planned Parenthood in Fort Collins. Planned Parenthood facilities in Illinois are inflicting the same kind of deadly abortion injuries on numerous women. You can find chilling stories like this all over. The dangers of abortion should concern anyone who actually cares about women’s health,” says Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
Please Use Side Door
Yet even as the clinic was requesting an ambulance for a woman who might have suffered a uterine perforation, the Planned Parenthood caller had some very specific logistical instructions for the responders: “just back into the side driveway and we’ll open the side door.”
“This is surreal,” Newman observes. “After a woman suffers possible uterine perforation and an ambulance is summoned for hospital transport, it is inexcusable to trivialize an emergency. By telling emergency personnel to please use the ‘little side driveway,’ abortion staff were possibly thwarting logistical help for a serious medical situation.”
Operation Rescue obtained the CAD report of this emergency yet it contains remarkably little information. In fact, the initial narrative consists of just three abbreviations of information: “f 28 yo.”
No detail regarding the complication. No account of the patient’s condition after first responders arrived. No explanation of what they did to help her. Just: “f 28 yo.”
Impunity in One of America’s Most Radicalized Abortion States
This incident is particularly significant because it occurred in New York, a state that has gone to extraordinary lengths to protect and expand access to abortion.
New York law guarantees a right to abortion through 24 weeks of pregnancy. After 24 weeks, abortion remains lawful when the fetus is not viable or when the procedure is necessary to protect the patient’s life or health, including physical or “mental” health.
The state’s 2019 Reproductive Health Act moved abortion provisions into the Public Health Law and established statutory protections for abortions declaring them equal to a fundamental public health right. New York has continued to strengthen protections for the abortion cartel as a form of reproductive health care. In 2024, voters approved a constitutional amendment adding pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, reproductive healthcare and autonomy to the categories protected against discrimination under Article 1, Section 11 of the state Constitution.
New York’s government proudly describes these policies as protections for “reproductive freedom” — but who is making sure women are protected when something goes wrong?
Expanding access to abortion does not eliminate the complications they bring. And legal protection for abortionists does not make medical injuries disappear.
Newman concludes: “Lawmakers are turning their eyes away from the truth. Meanwhile the abortion cartel keeps profiting, killing more unborn babies, and injuring or killing more women. These facts deserve further investigation. After all, when a woman walks into a so-called ‘medical facility’ for an abortion which goes wrong and results in a call for emergency assistance, the public should not be expected to shrug its shoulders and move on. We just had another woman injured from a botched abortion — and her story should not end with three words in a police database: ‘f 28 yo.’”
